The members of the Club are a diverse group of people, riding all sorts of bikes from Aprilia RSVRs, Fireblades, Ducatis and CBR600s, through BMWs and VFRs to Moto Guzzis, Suzuki SV650s and Triumph Tigers and Speed Triples. What unites our members is a desire to ride - not just anyhow - but to ride to a high standard and to ride safely - and to make it fun too. Serious fun.
Originally formed as Avon Advanced Motorcyclists in 1973 when the emphasis was on training to Advanced and Instructor Standard, the Club has changed through a number of different guises and now embodies a balance of advanced riding through encouragement and direction, and social activities. The Club continues to encourage members to train for, take (and pass) an advanced test, but this is not mandatory and it is our attitude to riding that is more important than having passed a test.
Most Club runs are in the summer months - either at the weekend or on Thursday evenings. During the winter, we meet roughly once a month and invite guest speakers - such as Clubman racers, the Safety Camera Partnership, or an accident investigator to share their views on various aspects of motorcycling.
Our monthly newsletter - Treads - found in this site, gives an idea of what we get up to, so if you would like to join us, or if you would like more information, please call Simon Gough . Details can be found on the Contact Us page. It could be the most fun you have had with your bike in a long time. Seriously.
To be able to join you need to have: -
- a full motorcycle licence
- a motorcycle of 33 bhp or more
- paid the annual subscription and
- a general desire to improve your standard of riding.
We hope to see you out with us soon.
